Install of Update rollup 4 fails? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings all. This is a lab environment consisting of three VMs all running Server 2016. One DC, one SQL 2016 (not SP1) server and one DPM 2016. I got DPM installed finally (saw a post referencing not to use the FQDN when specifying the domain info on the SQL portion of the setup) but now cannot patch it to UR4. This is a fresh install - no agents, protection groups or anything else has been done yet. I figured I'd go to UR4 before configuring anything.

The file I downloaded - dataprotectionmanager2016-kb4043316_05b386d8edc88537dc9592cc3644eddbb313546b.exe - launches but never completes. No errors, no nothing. I get two events in the Windows App log - Event 1026 .Net Runtime error and then a Event 1000 Application Error. Text for both is below. I tried running as admin from explorer and also from an elevated command prompt.

  • I am receiving the exact same error when attempting to update my DPM remote console from 2016 1801 to 1807. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the console on my workstation with no luck. The same error returns when attempting to use the update from Microsoft Download Center.
