Not receiving all emails in a new user inbox, only some RRS feed

  • Question

  • Okay I just created a couple of new users in active directory and their inboxes

I also configured the pop3 connector for those addresses

But when the user logs and opens outlook:

1° It doesnt automatically recognizes its an exchange account, it tries to configure it as if it was an IMAP account

2°If I configure it manually (As exchange account) I receive some email messages (Some automated ones I receive every day from the goverment) however I dont receive messages I send to test from a hotmail account of mine

3° If I add it as IMAP account I DO receive the hotmail messages, however I DONT receive the goverment ones (I almost dont receive any emails dont it this way)

I'm using Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003

  • There is no POP3 connector in Exchange Server.  If you are using SBS, then I recommend you post in the SBS forum because the POP3 connector is an SBS component.

POP3 is a single mailbox client mail retrieval protocol, not a mail transport protocol.  Any attempt to use it as a mail transport protocol is a great big kludge.  Exchange is designed to connect to the Internet using SMTP.

  • Hi,

According to your description, I know that you want to create an account, which not only can receive the government internal emails but also the external emails like sent from Hotmail account. Right?

I wonder that whether you are using the SBS.

If it is the case, it should be an issue about the POP3 connector configuration. Please follow Ed to perform the troubleshooting.
