Black background screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • My desktop screen background is black. Icons are present. I did receive notice that Windows may not be genuine. I ran a full scan of Windows malicious files but none were infected. How can I validate my Windows?

  • Hi captgregg,

It seems that there is something wrong with the activation.
Have you replaced any hardware device recently?

We could run “slmgr /dlv” to check present activation information. If the activation information has been corrupted, we could try to open an administrator command line and run “slmgr /rearm” then run “slmgr /ato” to re-active present installation.
If the issue persists and you got a product key, we could try to run “slmgr.vbs /upk” and reactivate it “slmgr ipk <product key>” to perform an activation.

If you are using an OEM version, it is recommended to ask for help from the device manufacturer support.

    Best,
    Joy.
