Print Spooler service keeps failing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Support Team,

I have a windows server 2012 R2 Server running in our domain environment on Hyper V. The print spooler service keeps crashing and we always have to manually restart the service before users can print. This is greatly affecting productivity, and I will be very grateful if you could assist me to rectify this problem.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Elnuxx,

As Matteo suggested, please check if there is a printer driver issue and need to update printer drivers. You can also enable print driver isolation to make sure the spooler does not fail due to print drivers. And then monitor the result.

Would you please let me know whether install any third-party application on the server? Please perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflicts and check if the print spooler service still keep crashing.

In addition, please open Services panel, navigate to Printer Spooler service and temporarily stop it. Then locate to: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder, clear all files in the folder. And then please enable the Printer Spooler service again and check if this issue still exists.

Meanwhile, please refer to following article and check if can help you.
