  • Question

  • Hi,

I have problems with Sharepoint 2007 audiences. I have various Audience groups in the SSP. Few audience groups are showing very less number of memmbers  where expected more than 1000. Not sure how to fix the problem. Any advise?

  • Hi,

    You can try 2 approaches,

Approach1: Create an Active Directory group with the list of users and then add this AD group to the Custom SharePoint Group. Set the audience in SharePoint for the custom SharePoint group.

Approach 2: Create custom SharePoint group and add the users to the group. Set the audience in SharePoint for the custom SharePoint group.

In our case we are using approach 1 as we have more than 1500 users.

    HTH.

    Thanks,

  • Say for example "All US" is the distribution list in my active directory. I have added ALL US distribution  list in the Audience rule. I should be able to get the list of users in the ALL US distribution list, once the audience is compiled successfully.

But i dont see more than 10 but in truth it is more than 1000.

Can we query on any SSP Db table to find out whether the members are present in that particular Audience group or not? Pls advise.

  • Hi,

We Added the AD group to a SharePoint group. Then add those to the audience rules and compile instead of directly adding AD group to audience.

I am not sure if we can get the members list by directly querying the SSP DB, but you can achieve this using the SharePoint Object Model code http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms494684.aspx

    HTH,

    Thanks,
