Blocking Issues - Disk Configuration not supported RRS feed

  • Question

  • MVMC - Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter

    Blocking Issues:

1:  The VMware specified MV with host name is running with a disk configuration that is not supported.

We have converted several VMs from the the same ESXi 5.0.0 server.

The VM servers that were converted had hardware version 7 and the first failure had hardware version 8

Nothing out of the ordinary on the VM or differences.

No documentation or clue as to what the issue is.

Converter is running from the HYPER-V 2012 server and we have successfully converted several before this system.

Any pointers as to what is the issue would be appreciated.

  • For anyone having issues in the future.. it's not the hardware version or the fact that it was a different controller.

Other VM had LSI Logic SAS controller.  This failing VM has a LSI Logic Parallel controller, which was not the issue.  Both are fine

    Hardware version 8 was fine.

What caused the failure was the fact that one of the disks were set to MODE - Independent - Persistent.

(In the settings of the VM and one of the drives had this)

Hope this can help someone in a Google / Bing Search.
