  • Yeah, i am having the same problem with my new laptop.  the CD/DVD player was working properly and then i downloaded all the new updates for windows and all of a sudden it wasn't working.  Giving ne the Code 10 message.  Please someone figure this out because it's really pissing me off.

  • OK, I found this on a website forum (hardwareanalysis.com), I did it, and it worked. But you might have to do it once, and then again sometime after. But it works.

    To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
    Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
    Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
