problem while configuring wsus RRS feed

  • Question

  • The port 80 and port 443 is open from firewall. But while configuring wsus, during connecting to upstream server, an http error is shown. I can not access these ports for connecting the internet. What will be the solution?

  • Hi,

The default port number has changed on WSUS 6.2 and later (at least Windows Server 2012), port 8530 for HTTP and 8531 for HTTPS.

So please confirm which is configured as WSUS service on upstream server.

If the issue persist, please share the error with us.

    Hope this helps.

    Please clarify the issue here.

Are you trying to connect to an upstream server?

Or are you trying to connect to Microsoft via the Internet?

WHAT HTTP Error are you getting?

The connection to Microsoft is always on port 443 (synchronization) or port 80 (file downloads), but the connection to an upstream server is dependent upon how that upstream server has been installed configured. WSUS v3 defaults to port 80 (SSL on 443), but WSUS v6 defaults to 8530 (SSL on 8531).
