  • Question

  • Hello,

I have created a SharePoint site but it appears that the site template I choose does not allow me to add some types of Web Parts such as Discussion Boards.  Is there a way that I can change this default behavior so that the various types of content are available regardless of which template I have chosen?

If I view all site content then click Create and choose lists I only see three options where I should see a dozen or so.

    Thank you,

    Matt

  • You need to go to the top level site then do the following click Site Actions then Site Settings:

    1.      On the click the Site collection features link.

    2.      Activate Group Work Lists.

    3.      Activate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection.

    4.      Activate SharePoint Server Standard Site Collection.

    5.      Activate Team Collaboration Lists.

  • The standard license web parts, collaboration web parts and publishung features are all turned off by default on my sites too.

The only thing I can think off is feature stapling, which is a programatic solution.
