windows 7 pro n product key does not match your SKU RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a problem with a brand new win 7 pro N sp1 I have downloaded from Dreamspark to install on my desktop. Unfortunately, after the installation is won't activate with the product key I've got from Dreamspark with a message: product key does not match your SKU

I wrote to Dreamspark, but they probably preffer not to answer my questions :( and there is no online support for my PID for free :(

Can anyone help me out with this problem? All similar threads are 2-3 years old, and I am not sure they are still relevant. I have this windows on 30 days trial period and I hope I can activate it.

    Thanks

Answers

  • Good news!  I got a reply from Kivuto, they said that my Key was invalid and made a return on my order so I could make a new one. When I had ordered Windows 7 Pro N again and got a new key everything worked perfectly! :)

So just send a e-mail to: DreamSpark@kivuto.com , explain your problem and attach screenshots of everything so they can see that you got the key when ordering at the dreamspark page and also screenshots from when you enter the key at the activation process and the error message.

  • I believe you downloaded the wrong version, you will need to download Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 (Do not download the N or KN version).

    Thanks

    Hi Lain,

unfortunately, for Czech Republic only N version is avaliable, and my product key was generated by dreamspark system for N version :(

  • Please post an MGADiag report.... (assuming you installed using the Default Key)

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
     Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

  • The installed version is Professional N

The Installed Key is the Default Key for Pro N - which cannot be activated.

Your Key *should* work- use the command

    SLUI 3

to change the Key to the one from your receipt.

You should have access to a concierge at DreamSpark - I recommend that you contact them and see what the problem is, if you still cannot get the proper Key installed and activated. There is little more we can do for you here.

  • Noel,

    unfortunately SLUI 3 didn't work either :(

I did contact DreamSpark through their support contact form instatntly (27th or 28th of December) but they didnt respond at all :(

And one more question, who is a concierge at DreamSpark?

  • Most such MS schemes have a central contact that you can email for queries about problems with subscriptions, etc.  This is known as the Concierge - heck your paperwork, and see if there's anything there, and check your login pages at DreamSpark to see if there's anything there.

  • Hi!

I have exactly the same problem with the Swedish version of Windows 7 Professional N. The interesting thing is that I ordered it on December 22 and could not activate, about the same time it got unavailable from Dreamspark so I thought that maybe they got some problems that made me get a corrupt key. But now today 12 January it is back and then a friend of mine got a license and got the same problem.

At first I contacted the support at my University, they told me to talk to Dreamspark. When I asked Dreamspark about the problem they told me to talk to the support at the University. Then I called the Microsoft support in Sweden and they told me to talk to the support at the University. So it seems like no one wants to help me with this :D

  • The Support Shuffle is an unfortunately common problem.

I suspect that final responsibility lies with DreamSpark, so keep on at them about it, and they should relent.

    Hi Noel,

unfortunately it is like I am writing into a black hole :( I didn't get any message from DS support :( is there any chance you guys can give them a little push?

    Saturday, January 12, 2013 3:26 PM
  • Unfortunately, 'us guys' are simply end-users like you, mostly - there are very few Softies (or eve MS contractors) who participate in the forums except for responding to paid subscribers.

Their response in any case would be to contact DreamSpark in as direct a manner as possible. What options are available from your DS login? There should be one specifically to deal with purchases/returns.

So hopefully they can give some help after this :)

  • I used the link that Carey Frisch posted here in the forum. The interesting thing is that I had used it once before, and that time they asked me to talk to the support at the University. And the second time they asked me for screenshots. Today I got an answer where they re-directed me to "Kivuto Solutions Inc" so I sent the same screenshots and description of my problem to them. The automatic reply message said that I would get feedback within 2 business days.

  • Hello

i have the same problem. Still not solved :C :C :C

I wrote an email but i got reply like this:

Thank you for contacting Kivuto Solution Inc.

To access your Product Key or Activation code, perform the following steps:

1 – Log in to the WebStore at [here URL]
2 – Click the “Your Account” link at the top of the page.
3 – Scroll down to the “Order History” section and click the “View Details” link.

Clicking that link will allow you to view all information related to that software item, including your Product Key or Activation Code.

The DreamSpark program is set up so that each school WebStore has a Program Administrator (PA) who is responsible for providing technical support to users of that WebStore. Although Kivuto occasionally assists these PAs with matters they are unable to solve on their own, end-user support is generally provided by the PA, not by Kivuto.

For this reason, we would ask that you please direct your request to the PA of your WebStore. This individual can be reached at:[ here my university email]

    Kind Regards,

    Maria
