  • Windows Embedded (Windows Embedded Standard 7 - WES7) is Windows 7 broken down into selectable components. WES7 also includes some lockdown features that Windows 7 doesn't have like File Based Write Filter.     WES7 is an OEM product that is used to build Embedded / IoT devices. It has a special license agreement that limits the use of the OS for a single or limited number of applications. It cannot be used as a general purpose PC. One cannot upgrade or downgrade with the normal Windows 7 OS.
