change pdf to word document RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a pdf file that I want to convert a word document 2007. Specifially I want to access a table in the middle of the the document. The pdf table that I want to work with is in a users manual from my company's main customer. This user manual has page headers and page footers in it. The customer said the only way I will get the data for the work I need to complete is to convert the 297 pages from their pdf document to word for me to work with.
I work for some a small company that does not have a budget for buying adobe acrobat. It looks like adobe acrobat would pull out all the tables I want to access easily. I have tried a few free online websites that convert a pdf file to word, but they do not work. Do you know of any free website where I it would complete my goal of converting a pdf file to word?

The short answer is: you get what you pay for. Some PDF converters do a better job of table conversion than others. It is indeed strange that your customer won't supply the table in anything other than PDF format - it suggests they're not concerned with how much you might charge them for the work, in which case, you could buy Adobe Acrobat Pro and charge them the cost. Your other option is to print the relevant pages and use OCR software for the conversion.
