  • Do you use cloning/imaging? Maybe a few of these computers were cloned. So then they will have the same SUSClientID. And every time one machine connects to WSUS it kicks another one with the same ID. Although both machines would still pull updates normally. This is just a visual issue.

    To reset and generate new unique SUSClientID you can run this on all machines having this problem (this is a cmd file i usually run once after cloning a machine):

    @Echo off
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits
    reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate" /v SusClientId /f
    net start wuauserv
    wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow
    exit

  • Hi,

    There is a great possibility that SUSClientID is duplicated.
    In addition to this, there may be other reasons. The following two articles describe the troubleshooting steps for such failures, please try to check:

    Reply back with the results would be happy to help.

  • As others have said, it's most likely the SUSClientID that's been duplicated. Here's the fix, and the explanation of WHY.
