Increase the power plan choices in battery meter flyout RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was wondering, is there was a way, like a registry hack, to increase the number of options shown in the battery meter flyout? I was digging around in the registry last night, and found something that looks to have potential:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\SysTray\BattMeter\Flyout

In here you can find 2 key-value pairs. The names are long strings like 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e. They also have similar strings for the values. The values correspond to the identifying numbers of the power plans (listed elsewhere in the registry). For the 'balanced' plan, the key and value were the same, but for my custom plan, the key listed in this location is different from the value.

I tried adding a 3rd key-value pair to this location in the registry, to see if that would add another power plan to the battery meter, but it didn't work.

Is anyone else familiar with this stuff, or has anyone already figured it out?
