RD without it locking the client machine. I am wanting the client to be able to watch what I am doing ! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way to use RD without it locking the client machine. I am wanting the client to be able to watch what I am doing and/or show me what is happening to them. I do not however want to do this using remote assistance as this is too much of a hastle. Thanks..

  • Due to the protocol, you really can't do that. If Remote Assistance is too much work, you can edit some files so it auto accepts and auto takes control.

    In order to setup the "auto approve" function for remote assistance, you need to edit the html file located at:

    C:\windows\pchealth\HelpCtr\System\Remote Assistance\helpeeaccept.htm

    Find the follow group of text within the file (towards the bottom)
    btnAccept.disabled = false;
    btnDecline.disabled = false;
    btnDecline.focus();

    and change the value to this:
    btnAccept.disabled = false;
    btnDecline.disabled = false;
    btnDecline.focus();
    DoAccept();

    To disable the accept dialog for take control, you need to edit the html file located at:

    C:\windows\pchealth\HelpCtr\System\RemoteAssistance\Interaction\Server\TakeControlMsgs.htm

    Find the following lines:
    idExpert1.innerText =
    vArgs[0];
    idExpert2.innerText =
    vArgs[0];
    idExpert3.innerText =
    vArgs[0];

    Then add the following line below the above mentioned lines but make sure that you add the line before closing the bracket.

    /* Added to allow take remote control of PC */
    onClickHandler(0)
