Skype for Bussines client signin RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Experts,

One of our customer trying to setup their Surface Hub sign into our hosted Skype for Business platform and the device is just stuck on “signing in”.

The meeting room account itself is configured as normal, and working for other customers on other devices, such as Polycom Medialig but with internal (Front End Server access)

The customer that is having issues only has external access (Edge Server) currently.

We cannot find any documentation about whether or not Skype Meeting Room is supported over Edge server?   There also doesn’t seem to be a way to manually point the device to look to the Edge server rather than the Front End.

Please could anyone of you confirm whether or not external access is supported?

    Many thanks

  • Hi SBHV,

If this is an account in skype for business, I would suggest to check the external access policy assigned to that account,

  • Hi SBHV,

Welcome to post in our forum.

Would you please tell are there any error messages when sign in SFB on Surface Hub?

Please try to delete SFB cache files and install the latest update for SFB client.

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_UserName@Domain.com

On your Surface Hub device, please try to perform a clean boot.

Skype Meeting Room is supported over Edge server, but there is no official document explain it clearly, hope to gain your understanding.

Please try to check the external access policy for the account following the article provided by Muralidharan.R.

The following article is about Lync room system for your reference

  • Hello

you may need to run the below script to validate the account https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/surface-hub/appendix-a-powershell-scripts-for-surface-hub

Surface hub run Skype for business client so should never be a problem to connect to edge or Frontend

  • Please check with the error that you are receiving , there is no provisioning issue that we have seen with Meeting Rooms from external. Check for any third pary apps if any and also can  go with clean boot as Alice suggested
