How Do I Create New Column and Fill Down New Value RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to create a new column named 'Title' for example, and fill down all the cells with 'ABCDEFG' for example.

    I need it to fill down for all the rows that are populated with other data. Thank you.

  • Hi

    let
        Source = Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="Table1"]}[Content],
        #"Changed Type" = Table.TransformColumnTypes(Source,{{"Date", type datetime}}),
        #"Added Custom" = Table.AddColumn(#"Changed Type", "Title", each "ABCDEFG")
    in
        #"Added Custom"

    Or, from the User Interface: Add columns tab > Custom column > New column name: Title > Custom column formula: ="ABCDEFG"

    For basic/newby question like that one I would suggest you raise it on the Excel Community forum
