Performance problems when Zoom is enabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are developping Word addins in VBA and VB.NET that heavily operate on Word documents. We measured a significant performance loss with Word 2013, especially when accessing styles, revisions, or running over all paragraphs. Word 2013 is between factor 8 and 50 slower than Word 2007.

We were given the information that performance is getting significantly better again when

    - switching to Draft view

    - deactivating the Zoom slider for the user.

While the first can be done programmatically, the second only takes effect when manipulating the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry; and we cannot force the user to deactivate this.

Would anyone have some idea on

    - how to deactivate the Zoom slider programmatically, and

    - how to increase performance of Word 2013 again such that it comes closer to previous Word versions?
