On page XX of results...The search request was unable to execute on FAST Search Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • After having successfully navigated through (e.g.) 12 pages of results I get the 'The search request was unable to execute on FAST Search Server' message for all subsequent page (13, 14 etc.).

Anybody got any ideas why and how I can solve it?

    Thanks, Shane

  • Hello Shane,

Are you using wildcards in your query or scope? See this thread for more information:

Seems if you use the wildcard operator (*) you can hit this. But if you rewrite the query in fql to use starts-with() instead, it will work. But that requires an fql enabled web part.

  • Hi Mikael,

Nope, in this case I'm not using any wildcards nor any scopes (that I know of - how can I check?), it's a simple one word search. Any other pointers would, as always, be much appreciated.

In case this indicates the issue

    8151-8200 of N results...fine (next page of 50...)
    8201-8250 of N results...fine (next page of 50...)
    8201-8250 of N results...fine (next page of 50...)
    8251-8300 of N results...fine (next page of 50...)
(next 50)...The search request was unable to execute on FAST Search Server

    Thanks, Shane
