VPN Connection from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2012 R2 (VM) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I have two virtual machines set up with Windows Server 2012 R2. I am trying to VPN to them through my physical machine (Windows 7) using the built in VPN Connection setup.

I have connected to one perfectly, although I have to change either the VM's DNS Server address to 127.0.0.1 or change the DNS Server address on the VPN Connection on the physical machine to match the IP Address of the VM. This then gives me full access. (I am trying to access a web application that is on the server.)

However, on the other VM, I cannot change the DNS Server Address of the VPN connection and so cannot connect with full access. If I set a static DNS, it still keeps the original DNS as well as the new one.

In the status of the VPN connection that is not working, it shows two DNS Servers, 192.168.16.2 which I do not want, plus the one I have entered. The one that works has just the one that I entered myself.

    Any help?
