  • Hello,

If I understood correctly, you are trying to connect your DPM 2019 to your VMware vCenter?

Here are the high-level steps to do that:

    1. Enable a secure SSL communication between DPM and VMware server.

    2. Add a new user with certain minimum privileges in VMware.

    3. Add the VMware Server to DPM.

    4. Protect VMware VMs with DPM.

You will find all the information needed in the documentation below:

Use DPM to back up and restore VMware virtual machines
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/dpm/back-up-vmware?view=sc-dpm-2019

Did you follow the documentation above, step-by-step?

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hello,

No, you did not understand me, I try to add a VMvare account to DPM for the beginning - and I get an error when I add it, both through the GUI and through powershell. When I add an account, I’ll get an error again when adding a VMvare server.

  • Interesting, I have not seen this error before.

Are you trying to do this on the DPM server itself or remotely?

Have you tried restarting the DPM server?

  • I have this same issue. I'm trying to add the credential directly on the DPM server.
