Configuring SSL on an Intranet Web App port 443 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We know how the ideal scenario works for ssl when you extend an intranet web app to internet web app and configure ssl on the internet web app (port 443) , setup alternate access mappings and you r good to go.

But we are looking at a scenario here where we want to craete a web app for port 443 (the only web app we will have in the farm for now apart from my site and central admin) , configure ssl and use this for intranet. So our intarnet will now have HTTPS:// ,,,

Any suggestions, heads up , complaints, guidance on the above scenario are welcome.

  • Hi,

when you are creating the new web application, just tick the "enable SSL" setting for the web application. Add the alternate access mappings reflecting your HTTPS address and add the certificate to IIS.

There are not other steps to consider
