DPM 2010 / HP DAT 72 USB RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows 2008 R2 Standard server running DPM 2010. I'm performing backups on disc and a Quantum DLT-V4 tape drive. No I got a HP DAT 72 USB tape drive from a server that is no longer used. I've installed the tape drive and it's showing up in device manager (in fact both tape drivers are show).

The problem now is, that DPM 2010 is not recognizing the DAT 72 tape drive. When I do a refresh on the libraries only the Quantum drives is found and listed. Whatever I tried, the HP tape drive is not found by DPM 2010.

    Any ideas?

    THANX!

Answers

  • USB is a removable storage and will not work in DPM, not supported.

Use a tape drive that is Fibre Chanel attached, SAS or SCSI. All disk you will use in the DPM diskpool must be recognised as local storage.

  • Thanx. This is not the answer I'd like to hear ;-) But nevertheless the answer saves me a lot of time investigating myself.
