username does not match the email address RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have recently moved to a shared SMTP namespace and our email address has changed to firstname.lastname@domain.com

Our username is based on the surnamefirstinitial

Users are prompted for credentials when they either first login, or change the password, whereas the old system would not.

Is there a way to automate the logging on to Outlook where the username does not match the email address? does this sound right?

    Thanks in advance

  • I've solved the issue.

It was that i enable outlook anywhere (For cross forest free/busy) and used Basic authention instead of NTLM

    Duh!

  • You want the UPN and SMTP to match. I'd suggest you do that by creating additional UPN suffix which matches the primary SMTP address.

  • Sorry forgot to add as part of the question, the domain portion has remained the same.

The UPN potion has been changed so adding a suffix is not needed in this case

    any other ideas?
