App-V depreciate product for future used RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

A Microsoft consultant yesterday is came to our office. We were planning to deploy a RDS form for RemoteApps, but to push the apps the RDS servers with App-V 5.0 sp2. The Microsoft Consultant had announced that App-V was at Microsoft now a depreciated product that was not recommended to use now and in the future.

I was extremely surprised and would like to know if any one at Microsoft on the product team can confirm that statement please.

    thank you.

  • it was my thinking, unfortunately that person is from Microsoft, and i don't have anything that proof it is not a depreciated product. I'm love this product and was very surprise. But my company don't want to invest time and effort for a product if this one is depreciated. thank you for this link.

  • I think your MS consultant's trying something else (APP-V is include in the RDS CAL)
Or more simple : he doesn't know anything about this (very good) software...

  • The lifecycle support page should be proof enough that App-V is not depreciated.

If you have a TAM or other Microsoft representative, I would suggest speaking with them.

As an MVP, I've not heard anything to suggest that App-V is currently or is to be depreciated.

  • That is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. App-V (as in Client App-V) 4.6 and 5.0 remain in support and App-V going forward is still an MDOP flagship product. It could be that the consultant was not an App-V expert and got this product confused with SERVER APP-V ( A System Center Product) which will no longer be included in future releases of System Center.

If that is not the case, please feel free to contact me offline.
