  • Question

  • i had a system crash yesterday.  i did a system restore to a previous restore point.  MS Outlook opens but is froze.  MS word and excel both open and i can use them.  when i open Windows Task Manager and look at the processes tab most of the .exe processes have "*32" after them  ( WINWORD>EXE*32,  Weather.exe*32,  etc).  any suggestions as to what happened and how to fix the problem.  it affects most programs.

    thanks

  • It appears to be normal for Win 7 X64.

*32 indicates a 32 bit process. Most applications are 32 bit. Office 2010 includes both 32 and 64 bit versions, but the 32 bit ones install by default.

  • 1. Look into Event logs for more information. In Outlook chances are that this is induced effect (loss of connectivity).

    2. If you have working backup, use it. Disable services that are not key ones for the moment (Namely the AV.)

    3. If no restore point helps, the use in-place upgrade and repair Office from install DVD.
