Message Rate limit on Receive connector RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dears,

We have an application that relay emails through Exchange server, we need to limit the receiving to 25 emails per minute.

We can change the Message rate limit on the receive connector, but my question is if in 1 minute the application sends 50 emails will the emails be rejected or stuck in a queue and be sent in the next minute?

    Best Regards,

    Best Regards,

Typically, Exchange would back off the connection with a 400 SMTP response code. The application would have to be RFC compliant and honor that and queue the mail on its end and then retry based on its own retry interval.

In other words, its on that application to correctly handle this, not Exchange.
