Explorer very slow to start and when navigating folders. Windows 10 Pro (1803). RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Recently my machine has slowed down when navigating file explorer or even modifying power options.

It seems that explorer takes 25% CPU when navigating folders and lasts for about 25 secs.

I've started using process explorer and looking at the explorer threads, I've discovered that

shcore.dll!_WrapperThreadProc and shcore.dll!TPPWorkerThread were taking up 25%+ CPU.

I have no idea if these threads are the real culprits as I can't find any help by Googling.

I'm hoping that someone out there can help me out because the system is slow that I may have to re-install Windows which I'm trying to avoid.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Problem solved by disabling a few drivers and then enabling them.
