Windows Explorer button gone from taskbar RRS feed

  • Question

  • The windows explorer button on the taskbar has gone missing. At first, it showed a generic image on the button and when clicked a message came back saying the program could not be run. Following the instructions in pop up, the button disappeared. How does one get it back?

  • This is a helpful solution that would work IF Windows Explorer were still on the Start Menu. I have another post on this problem.

  • Hello,

Windows Explorer should be located in your local drive in the Windows directory.

    C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Once you locate it, you can create a shortcut or copy/paste to: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories It will then be back under accessories

    Hope this helps.
