Status Message Viewer [Query Not Open]

    Question

  • Server 1: Windows Server 2012 and ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 CU3, Primary

Server 2: Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 (says ver 11.0.3339.0)

Most everything works fine, however when I open Status Message Viewer to look at my critical “SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT” or any other component I receive these pop-up boxes:

    1. Title: Configuration Manager Status Message Viewer
Message:  Configuration Manager could not provide the data that you requested.
    2. Title: Configuration Manager Status Message Viewer
Message:  An unexpected error has occurred processing status messages [Query Not Open].  Further processing for this query has been stopped.
    3. Title: Configuration Manager Status Message Viewer
Message:  The status viewer was unable to retrieve the stored queries list from the data base.

This only occurs on a console session on Server 1.  I have the ConfigMgr console on Server 2 and my laptop and status messages open fine.  Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

  • I had a similar problem. a restart of the services sms_executive and sms_site_component_manager on the primary site server solved it.
