Windows 10 computers reporting Updates Needed: Language Interface Pack Updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    All of the Windows 10 computers on our network report that basically all the Language Interface Pack Updates are needed. However WSUS (Windows Server 2012 R2) does not list, in the Update View for Windows 10, any Language Interface Pack Updates. That WSUS does not list them is correct as, in WSUS Server | Options | Update Files and Languages | Update Languages, only English is selected.

    How can I stop the individual Windows 10 computers from reporting that these Language Interface Pack Updates are needed?

    Thank you.

    gdr

  • Hi g-dawg,

    1. All Language Pack and Language Interface Pack are needed by windows 10 on WSUS server by default:

    2. When we run check for windows update on clients, Language Pack and Language Interface Pack will not be downloaded and installed automatically even we approve it. We need to install Language pack in Settings>Languages manually. So, don't worry about they will be installed automatically;

    3. "Language Pack" is not related with the Language you selected in "Update Language".

    When you select "English" in "Update Language", then only English edition updates will be synced into WSUS server.

    Language Pack is the language used on clients, for example, you want clients to use Chinese Language, while it haven't install this language, then you may download Chinese Language Pack from WSUS server.

    4. >How can I stop the individual Windows 10 computers from reporting that these Language Interface Pack Updates are needed?

    You don't need to stop it, it's a default and normal behavior, if you don't need Language Pack, then you may not check "Language Pack" in "Products and Classification", decline synced Language Pack and run server cleanup Wizard.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • OK. Thank you for that information! I now have it so the individual computers have stopped reporting those updates as needed.
