  • Question

  • Hi,

Is Gateway server support monitoring any workflows from Gateway server itself?

Are there any workflows available in market which are running using in Gateway Server?

please share if you found any information related to this.

  • Hi,

The Gateway servers also have SCOM agent installed, the gateway server acts as a concentration point for agent-to-management server communication, it doesn't communicate with the SCOM databases directly, it forwards all data to the SCOM management servers.

The word "Gateway" is pretty self-explanatory, it's a basically a link between two computers/nodes allowing them to share information, in SCOM the Gateway forwards the information (data) to the Management server.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • The Gateway is has a MMA Agent, So it runs the Windows OS Workflows, SCOM workflows. If any issue is detected then it should alert similar to an Agent.

If you need to details, Go to the SCOM console Monitoring --> Operations Manager --> Management Server in this view select the Gateway and run the task "Show Running Rules and Monitors" this should give you the workflows running on the Gateway.

  • Hi,

Gateway servers are used to enable agent-management of computers that are outside the Kerberos trust boundary of management groups, such as in a domain that is not trusted. The gateway server acts as a concentration point for agent-to-management server communication. Agents in domains that are not trusted communicate with the gateway server and the gateway server communicates with one or more management servers. Based as I know, the gateway is monitored by SCOM server.

To check the workflow on the Gateway, you can follow Gautam’s suggestions, it will list all the workflows on the Gateway server. Here is the example in my environment:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/manage-agents-identify-all-running-workflows?view=sc-om-2019

    Hope it can help.

    Best regards.
