Exchange 2013 Auto-Attendant - 3 and 4 digit extensions RRS feed

  • Hello,

    The environment is Lync 2013 integrated with Exchange 2013. All users are enterprise voice enabled and Exchange UM enabled.

    I have configured an Exchange Auto-Attendant with 4 digit extensions. The AA works as expected. When an external caller calls the AA, and then dials the 4 digit extension for a user, the call is sent to the user.

    But each user also has a 3 digit extension internally. But AA does not pass these 3 digit extensions to the users. We have added the 3 digit extension to each user's Exchange account in addition to 4 digit extension.

    How can I enable AA to send both 3 and 4 digit extensions? Lync has normalization rules to convert 3 digit extension to 4 digit extension and send the call to users. Everything is working as expected on Lync side.

  • Yes we created a 3 digit dial plan. Then created an auto attendant. The main auto-attendant prompts caller to press 1 if they know person's extension. When they press 1, we just call the 3 digit AA which takes over from there. Make sure you disable the voice prompts in the second AA. Otherwise it is just too many prompts.
