What does the "Sign out" function in SharePoint do? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are running MOSS 2007 SP3.

Users report, at least while on Windows 7, that when they use the "Sign out" function in SharePoint, they find that other tabs containing other sessions also get logged out.

So, if the user has tabs with people logged into a service desk application, nagios, etc. and open a tab and goes to MOSS 2007, and then they "sign out" of Sharepoint in that tab, when they go to the other app tabs, they are also logged out of those applications.

So, what in the world is "Sign out" doing, and will it continue to do this even in SP 2010 and 2013?

    Thank you!

  • Signing out kills the session to the app I believe.  That's why they all the activity they are doing is killed after hitting that button.  It does it in SP 2013 for me as well especially if you are using AD profiles.
