Hide number on some outgoing calls RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have 2007R2 OCS, with mediation server connected to SIP trunk provider for all outgoing telephony, is it possible to hide outgoing number, ? so that receiver of the calls will not see the number ?

  • While it might be possible to rewrite the outgoing CID on the gateway (i.e. before the call leaves premise), most SIP trunk providers will refuse to do so due to liability issues. You can still do it with R2, if a B2BUA as FreeSwitch is used, where you can rewrite outgoing CID based on different conditions and then send the call to the provider. This, of course, adds complexity to layout.

Have you looked Lync yet. We now have this functionality built-in. The idea is that when we make call to PSTN, we want the main (1-800) or RGS for a specific group of users to be presented, and so when the other party call back, an AA or RGS will actually answer.
