DebugView - what is FMAPP? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using DebugView to troubleshoot an issue we are experiencing with Outlook slowness. On pretty much every machine we install it on, we see these recurring messages:

    "FMAPP: Debug function is disable

    FMAPP is running"

Can anyone tell me what FMAPP is?  I don't believe it really is the Conexant audio driver I find when I Google for it- I don't see that executable running in TaskManager, nor do I find it installed, nor do I see the filepath commonly associated with it.

  • I am not even sure DeBugView is win 7 compatible or supports what you are trying to do.

This program intercepts calls made to DbgPrint by device drivers and OutputDebugString made by Win32 programs. It allows for viewing and recording of debug session output on your local machine or across the Internet without an active debugger

Under Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista DebugView will capture:

    • Win32 OutputDebugString
    • Kernel-mode DbgPrint
    • All kernel-mode variants of DbgPrint implemented in Windows XP and Server 2003

Suspect you might be better off with Windows Debugger attached to a local machine.
