setting not being applied

    Question

  • We have 2008 domain controllers. Windows 7 workstations. Within the group policy manager we have a default USER policy.  I copied this and then made 1 change.   The 1 change was this:

"Prompt for user name and password"  is Now CHECKED.    I forced an AD replication via AD Sites/Services.   I applied this new GPO to an OU.  My test account is within this OU.   I log into a Windows 7 machine and the setting does not apply.  "automatic logon only in Intranet zone" is still checked.

I have gone as far as wiping out all old polices:

    DEL /S /F /Q "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Group Policy\History\*.*"
    DEL "C:\WINDOWS\security\Database\secedit.sdb"
    Gpupdate /force /boot

I have run gpresult /H MyGPO.html   my new GPO "is being applied"  or at least it says it is yet the setting never changes.  Why?   I have even made my test account a local Admin on the Windows 7 workstation, rebooted, run gpupdate /force (many times) and the setting never applies.

    Any help would be great!
