Move custom views from Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2016? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just migrated a client from Office 2007 and Exchange 2010 to Office 365 Pro Plus with Hosted Exchange.  One user has a number of custom views associated with a contact folder saved in a Public Folder.  Is it possible to save/migrate these views to the new Outlook?

  • Hi Joe,

Based on my knowledge, views are stored in user mailboxes, but I'm not sure how custom views are stored in a public folder. Since only one user has this query, you may try to back up the views for this user and then migrate to Office 365. If the views are not migrated, you can recover the views from the backup copy. You can back up the views according to the following article:

  • Steve,

Thanks for the reply.  Using the link I was able to successfully copy the custom views to a new PST file in Outlook 2007.  When I open the new PST file and go to 'Define Views', the custom views are there. However, when I open the new PST file in Outlook 2016 the views are NOT there. Is there any way to make the custom views available in 2016?
