blue screen crashes RRS feed

  • Question

  • This has happened a few times now, get the following info:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 2057

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: e1
    BCP1: FFFFF80003984C00
    BCP2: 0000000000000002

    Service Pack: 1_0

    Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\021613-23088-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-73975-0.sysdata.xml




    How can I find out the cause/resolve? I've tried system restore, checking the hard drive/memory, all to no effect.

  • Please post a copy of your dumpfile as shared file to your Sky Drive with a link here.

    For advice on how to configure your system to create dump files please read:

    The dumpfile will be created at c:\windows\minidump. You may need to change your settings in Windows to be able to see the file. To show hidden files type Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select View, Advanced Settings and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked and "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.

    What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?

    Please download and run Driver View and upload a copy of the report it produces to your Sky Drive.

    Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key. Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share and post a link here.

  •  We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
    You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.
    If you are overclocking stop.  (chances are if you dont know if you are, you are not)a
    To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.


    The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button. (if available on  your site, MS doesnt have this)
     *Please upload them to a file sharing service like Skydrive or"Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

    * Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
    * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
    * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
    * Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.

    Please also run MSinfo32 and upload the output as well.
    To run MSinfo32 please go to start>run>MSinfo32
    Go to "file" "save" and upload the saved file with the DMPS

    According to BSOD error code 0xE1, you can refer to Bug Check 0xE1: WORKER_THREAD_RETURNED_AT_BAD_IRQL (Windows Debuggers).

     

    To check the this issue, please locate the dump file in the \Windows\Minidump folder and upload it so that we can analyze it. Before we could get your Minidump files, you can check following:

     

    1. Update your BIOS, chipset and the drivers

    2. Scan the system to check for the virus

    3. Test the issue in Clean Boot and Safe Mode

    We often post to the same threads. A problem we both encounter is too many Sky Dive links that do not deliver. I notice you are using a new Sky Drive Help link. I was disappointed to see that it fails to say clearly much about about Public Folders and Sharing with Everyone. It is strong on creating groups which I have not seen before.

    I thought I would mention this as I am sure we both would prefer to remove problems involving use of Sky Drive interfering with the way we try to help with BSOD errors.

    I have yet to find a suitable link which explains how to use Sky Drive in public forums.

    I changed from the Technet link because it was the 2009 version and many people have complained that theiers didnt match the snips.  I wuld happily use (and or make) a different one and appreciate you taking the time to tell me.
