What is the purpose of the "Primary Owner" field in Incident; how is that different from "Assigned To"? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

In an incident, I know that the "Assigned To" is for assigning an incident to a IT staff member.  But what is the purpose of the "Primary Owner" field?  What are the benefits of using this?  Is it mandatory to use, or can it be left blank?

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hey

Depending on your processes, the Primary Owner could be the person that is responsible for the incident, but he/she is not the effective resolver. The person that is responsible for resolving is the one in the "assigned to" field.

If you don't need that, just dont fill anything in there, it's optional.
