Is very strange...when I power up my pc (new pentium Acer running Vista) before the monitor turns on, before Vista loads, the cd-tray pops out.  When I push the button it goes in then immeadiately ejects with no lag time.  It will stay closed if I push the button then manually hold the door so it cannot open.  Any ideas?  I'm not sure if the drive is functional but I'm also not to sold on Vista (as is everyone I know).  Sometimes I have pc's that read as though the drive is not accessible and then it is.  So, any ideas on the ever opening cd-rom door?

  • Sure - talk to Acer.

It's a brand-new system - you shouldn't have any funky hardware issues like that.
And, from how it sounds, I'm thinking that it's most likely an issue with the drive itself.  It's most definitely not a "Vista problem."
