  • First, attempt to reset IE 11. Click "tools", "Internet Options", Select "Advanced" and click "Reset". Restart IE 11.

Verify that all of your toolbars are uninstalled (these can block popups without notifying you).

Let me know if this works and good luck!

  • If it's certain websites, you might want to update your Java to the latest version. It's possible that it's erroring out with 8.1.

Other than that, I'd test Compatability mode on the websites that aren't working correctly..

    a)     Open Internet Explorer, press the Alt key to display the Menu bar.

    b)     ClickTools and select Compatibility View settings.

    c)     You will get a small window, add the website link into that field and click on Add.

    d)     Click Close once it has been added.

    Let me know what happens.

  • Hi,

First I suggest you run IE 11 within No Add-ons mode to test.

Actually, I suppose this issue may be caused by incorrectly installation. So I recommend you reinstall IE11 again.

    How to uninstall IE 11:

    1. Type appwiz.cpl in the box and then press the Enter key.
    2. On the left pane, click the option titled View installed updates to view all installed updates.
    3. Look for the entry titled Internet Explorer 11, right-click on it and click Uninstall button.

If you cannot uninstall IE 11 via the method above, please try this command below:

    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

I have a customer with a brand new HP workstation and the same thing is happening here.

Doing a search in Norton Toolbar and then clicking on one of the results it opens a new IE page but the page is completely blank, including the tab at the top to identify the page. Also when using a tax software program that is running from a web browser and clicking on an update it does the same thing.

When logging onto Online Banking and if you click on a transaction to view a deposit or a check it will not open that item.

The computer was installed 15 days ago. The first time we installed Office 2013 it asked to activate the product over the Internet. It would not connect to the Microsoft servers to validate the new product. OF course we had to call(phone) it in to validate.

If I uninstall IE 11, where can I download it prior to uninstalling itI guess I should download 11 before uninstalling it. Would prefer not to use another browser.

So Far I have disabled all add-ons, reset IE, Ran a full viruscan - Results Clean (N360). Customer does use the password feature in Norton 360, i beleive it is called the "Vault".

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hello.  I had such a thing happen just yesterday.  I thought you might like to share my vision of the event.

As you can see from the second frame, practically no menu option would work.  Not even Internet Options, which was grayed-out.  Even the few that were not grayed-out, most of them wouldn't work when clicked.  Of course the back-navigation button could not work either, as there is no possible history when the address bar is empty like that.

It was impossible to debug with F12 as that wouldn't launch either.  I wonder how godotengine.org ended up in the tab title when I have never visited that place.  I checked in the browser history.

Wonder how to parse that:  Go Dot Engine  or  God OT Engine   <eg>

Have you tried any regsvr32 "repairs"?  Note that RIES does not do anything like that, so if COM .dll re-registration is required, RIES is not the right tool for it.

However, I wonder if this may actually be related to scripting, because I once saw this symptom on a site where scripting was broken.  The only way I could go there and see menus was by putting it in the Restricted sites zone.  Unfortunately I did not record where that was.  I'm not that organized.

  • I had the same problem and fixed it in a second.  The fastest way is system restore to a point in time when ie11 is working.  The problem is mainly trigered by a programing mistake that microsoft made when creating ie11.  They left out a code where ie11 can close succesfully even if the developertools or the web page inspector is not closed prior to closing the browser window.
