NTLM and Basic Authentication in MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have enabled NTLM and now when the user enters type in domain\username ....

in our infrastructure some of the user access our site via Tivoli Access Manager, Tivoli Access Manager doesn't support NTLM

So we tried to enable Basic authentication on the same site. now it not asks (also if we type with domain name its no allowing) for domain name...

I would like to know the best solution to over come this situation.

  • Hi,

From your narration, I suggest that you enable SSL for your SharePoint site, the input the default domain for the site, then see what’s going on.

    The steps are as follows:

    1.       Open IIS manager, navigate to the site, select features view, click authentication, select Basic authentication,

    2.       Click edit, input the default domain.

Finally, check if you set Alternate Access Mappings correctly, I think it worth a try in such a scenario. It’s recommended for you to configure AAM as the following document:

MSDN Blog: What every SharePoint administrator needs to know about Alternate Access Mappings

For the detailed information about accessing SharePoint using Basic authentication and SSL, see
