  • Hello NeoB,

I too have a similar problem with windows update reporting missing MetaDeployProvider.dll.

Did you manage to find this DLL? Is there any way to unregister this library so DISM does not need it?

  • - You really should forget about MetaDeployProvider.dll thing, it's completely irrelevant and does not affect DISM function at all

    - command /StartComponentCleanup cannot be executed if there are pending servicing operations in the image (enabling some features like .NET 3.5 will trigger the pending status)

again, this is not error at all, it's just CBS design

    - the KB4498523 article is a bit wrong

it fix the issue with integrating new CU into WinPE image that have older CU

but it does not fix the /ResetBase issue for OS image (install.wim) or live system

  • I don't know how irrelevant it is, but I have a working computer which crashes windows updates because it's missing this DLL and generates DISM errors.
