Project 2010 - Timesheet Actual Hours does not equal Actual Work. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have noticed descrepancies between the actual hours booked in our timesheets and the
actual hours showing in our project plans.

    Example:
    • A employee booked 9 hours against task 'Backup Database' in a Project called 'Maintenance'
    • The timesheetline and timesheet is approved by the Timesheet manager.
    • The project plan is reviewed and the plan published.

    When I investigate the values in the reporting database, I notice the following;
    • The 'Actual Billable Work' in  [MSP_Project_Timesheet] cube is 9
    • The 'Actual Work' in  [MSP_Project_Timesheet] is 8.862223

Our working days are Mon - Friday, 7.5 hours per day.

Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

  • Hi,

Can you please check in the project plan what the value for Actual Work is for this task?
Have the hours been entered as hours, or did you enter them as a 'days' value?

Make sure to check all calendar related settings:

    • Calendar Definition
    • Schedule settings in Project Pro for this project (Tools -> Options -> Schedule)
    • The Default Reporting Units (number of hours per day) in 'Timesheet Settings and Default' (PWA -> Server Settings)

Make sure all these settings match your 7.5 hours per day calendar.

What version of Project Server are you using?

    I hope this helps,
    Hans
