Custom RMS / IRM message. RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can we change the message below to a custom one?

The message you tried to open is protected with Information Rights Management and can be opened using Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 or the standard version of Outlook Web App. Download a free trial of Microsoft Office Outlook fromhttp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=147091&clcid=0x409.

When a mobile device (BB and iPhone) receives an encrypted email our users see the above message, we need to create a custom message just like "This message is encrypted and cannot be viewed on a mobile device. Please open using outlook client"

  • There's a registry key called DOWNLEVELTEXT that allows you to specify the message that's included on any protected message sent from the computer configured from it. There are some applications that ignore this message, but most clients render it.

You can find about this registry key at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772637(WS.10).aspx.

  • Thanks Enrique,

I tried applying it via GPO but does not seem to work,  I also tried applying it via registry but gets the same result...

  • I called MS support and was told that this is hard-coded in Exchange and cannot be changed. :-(
