  • Question

  • HI, I have installed Windows 7 64-Bit on a M6500 Workstation laptop and have been having unexpected shutdowns since the install. I have run exhaustive hardware diagnostics on the unit but all hardware passed. (I know this may not mean alot...) McAfee Virus Scan and Antispyware have been installed during the configuration but have been uninstalled and reinstalled as a paret of the debug process. I'm running out of options and energy. Please find the XML code that was in the eventviewer entry. Thank you very much in advance.

  • BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER (fe)
USB Driver bugcheck, first parameter is USB bugcheck code.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000008, USBBUGCODE_RESERVED_USBHUB
    Arg2: 0000000000000006, USBHUB_TRAP_FATAL_TIMEOUT

  • 254 = 0xFE (hex)

    Bug Check 0xFE: BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER

This indicates that an error has occurred in a Universal Serial Bus (USB) driver.

It is also helpful to take a look at the dumps.

Please start the Windows Explorer and go to the folder C:\Windows\Minidump. Next, copy the dmp files to your desktop, zip all dmp into 1 zip file and upload the zip file to your Skydrive [1] and post a link here, so that I can look at the dumps with the debugger and to to see the cause of the crash.

  • Hi Andre,

Than you for the info. I will look into the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Driver, in the meantime the link to the >ZIP file on Skyline is here: (first time I used Skyline)

This system also has other dump files pertaining to other errors that I will have to look into. (I'll post those separately.)

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

  • I can't see the dumps. Change the share permissions.
