Hi, we are about to migrate an sbs 2003 server to windows server essentials 2012 & I would like to know what downtime this is going to create for the users on the network?
Once the new server is onsite, I will run the migration wizard but will THIS PART have any affect on the users working, ie exchange, data etc) or does it just setup the new server & allow it to run alongside the existing DC? Basically should this
wizard be run out of hours or does it not matter?
I was hoping this was the case, & then I can manually switch over to office 365 from the old Exchange server, & manually move the data & setup client PC's at a later date, but wasn't sure?
Windows Server 2012 Essentials no longer includes Exchange Server as a component product, you’ll need to work out a plan to migrate mailboxes based on where you migrate to. We’ll drill into more details on email migration in a later section in this post.
