PXE boot - Operating System not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • How should I proceed to troubleshoot an error like the following:

From the start: The boot image loads as it should, the virtual machine says "Loading files: IP:, File: \SMSImages\VSM00001\boot.VSM00001.wim"

When the .wim file has been loaded, the following screen appears:

And from here, it ends up in the first screenshot.

The server IP is correct, that is our PXE server. I know this works generally, because one other server was installing as it should at the same time.

I don't find anything in the SMSPXE.log related to the time of this error. Any other logs I should look at?

  • Make sure that command support (F8) is enabled in the boot image and press F8 as soon as the second screenshot appears. Examine x:\windows\temp\smsts\smsts.log then.

  • And don't forget to execute ipconfig to see if the Client got the right IP address :)

  • Ignore this thread, I had to start over again, because I already had the device in the SCCM console, and tried to deploy a new server with the same name.
