HTA / VBScript - ask for SmartCard authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

I have a small GUI (for SCCM/MDT deployment) written in HTA & VBScript.
This asks for username/password to authenticate the user (for Operating System Deployment).

Based on organizational changes it is now required to have all users to 'SmartCard authentication only'.
How can I authenticate with SmartCard in a HTA application?

The HTA is executed in system context (out of the ConfigMgr Software Center) - so workaround with 'run as' is not possible :(
I was already searching with bing for some help but unfortunately was not able to find something.

    Thanks :)

  • Your question doesn't make sense. If it's running unattended, you can't display a smartcard logon prompt for someone to enter the PIN, since it's running unattended.

In any case, there is no way, using standard Windows objects in an HTA, to display a Windows authentication dialog for smartcard authentication. The closest you will be able to get is the ShellRunas utility.
